Breve descrição: |
Tha goal of this thesis is to develop a
middleware for collaborative game control, where several users may use their
mobile phone to (collaboratively) control a given game character or object.
Replication will be used to locally cluster user commands, and relay these
to the game engine. Consider a room with several tenths of persons. We may
assign each of these groups of tenths to a replica, so that communication is
essentially local and, hence, can scale with the number of users.
Users will use the mobile phone’s gyroscope and, eventually other sensors,
to convey a simple command (up, down, left, right) to the game. With this
simple framework we will able to control all kinds of games. The main
challenges will be:
• latency, operations will have to arrive to the game engine almost
instantaneously, so that the game experience is real, and
• make the user experience meaningful, i.e. the user has the perception that
he/she is contributing to the character’s actions. |
