Breve descrição: The main objectives are to develop image processing algorithms and techniques for paper based biosensor identification/analysis. The techniques will be integrated in a easy to use mobile application for smartphones. This is a project in collaboration with the Department of Materials Science of FCT NOVA. From an image captured by a mobile camera it will be possible to identify the biosensor and read its color values. The main challenge is to identify the correct colors that are displayed as these colors represent measurements (e.g., % of glucose). The application will feature a component-based architecture, effectively abstracting and separating different concerns to different components. The main components are the interface/capture and the image processing library, with clear communication interfaces to increase platform independence. Image processing will be based upon the OpenCV library, available for Android, iOS and desktop computers.
