A key aspect in managing and building these services is the membership service, that tracks the (active/correct) components that compose the system. In this thesis we aim at designing a novel, scalable, and efficient membership service that can support large-scale application. As an initial use case we will leverage such service to support the operation of the Cassandra distributed storage system, following to studying how to leverage the service to mode some aspects of the storage system to the edge.
